AgTEC Program Featured on Telemundo

Updated: Mar 4

F3’s AgTEC Workforce Initiative was recently highlighted in a Telemundo news segment, showcasing the impact of the program in providing free, flexible, and accessible education for agricultural workers in the Central Valley. The segment emphasized how the Ag Systems Certificate, offered through seven regional community colleges, is opening doors for farmworkers to improve job opportunities and wages while balancing work and family responsibilities.

The interview featured Diana Escobar, a student in the program, who shared her journey of working long shifts while pursuing her education.

"Trabajaba por las mañanas, me iba a la escuela por las tardes en la noche hacia la tarea. Pero como les digo, cada esfuerzo tiene su recompensa" Diana said.

(“I worked in the morning, went to school in the afternoons, and did my homework at night. But as I say, every effort has its reward.")

Her commitment paid off—she was promoted to supervisor at her job after her employer recognized her dedication to learning. This free, self-paced certificate program, available in English and Spanish, equips students with 14 core competencies, including digital literacy, equipment operation, crop production systems, and food safety. The segment underscored the importance of programs like AgTEC in ensuring that farmworkers aren’t left behind as agricultural technology advances.

As Diana put it: "Esfuérzate, esfuérzate y luego vas a tener los resultados."

(“Work hard, work hard, and then you will see the results.”)
