F3 R&D Spotlight Video: Jujube and the Pits

Meet Jujube and the Pits, a team of mechanical engineering students (Maria Enciso, Landon Fife, Cody Gong, Fernando Moncayo, and Alexandro Pioquinto) from UC Merced who teamed up with UCANR and received support from F3 Local to take on a unique challenge...designing a machine to efficiently pit a lesser-known fruit grown here in the Valley: jujubes!

Watch the spotlight video below and get a glimpse into their innovative work to develop a tool that preserves fruit shape and yield while solving a real need for small-scale farmers. This project is a great example of what’s possible when student ingenuity meets community-driven ag innovation.
