As we celebrate National Farmworker Awareness Week (March 25 - 31), the F3 Initiative proudly recognizes the individuals whose labor, resilience, and dedication power the Central Valley’s agricultural economy. Farmworkers are the backbone of our food system — ensuring that families across the state and nation have access to fresh, healthy produce every day. This week is a time to honor their contributions and amplify their stories.
Through the F3 Initiative’s AgTEC Workforce Program — offered at seven Central Valley community colleges — we’re working to ensure that farmworkers and their families are equipped with the tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive. These include bilingual, flexible, and free courses that lead to an Ag Systems Certificate, focused on real-world, competency-based learning that aligns with the evolving agricultural industry.
Coalinga College, one of our AgTEC partners, recently published a special bilingual newsletter in honor of National Farmworker Awareness Week, featuring reflections from students who are in the ag industry. One of those students, Miguel Santos, shared this moving perspective:
“Agriculture has not only provided me with financial stability, but it has also taught me valuable lessons about hard work, patience, and connection with nature. It's a sector I deeply respect and has undoubtedly shaped my outlook on life and my appreciation for the human effort behind every piece of food that reaches our tables.” - Miguel Santos, Coalinga College

At F3, we believe the future of agriculture must be inclusive and rooted in community. That means supporting farmworkers not just with words, but with action — through accessible training, thoughtful partnerships, and investments that reflect the value they bring to our region and beyond.
