AgTEC Workforce Enrollment & Impact

The AgTEC Workforce Initiative is making significant strides, empowering students across the Central Valley to gain valuable skills and advance their careers in agriculture. With 150 students currently enrolled at participating colleges, the program is helping adult learners acquire real-world knowledge through its innovative, competency-based education model. Students have moved beyond foundational courses like Digital Literacy and are now diving into specialized topics, with overwhelmingly positive feedback.

"This program is helping me learn so many new things," said a student named Nelson. "Iā€™ve learned how to use a computer, send emails, and create meetings. Iā€™ve even gained skills in Excel and Google Docs. Professor Allen Vizcarra is doing an amazing job teaching usā€”he takes the time to explain things and even stays after hours to help. I hope this program keeps growing so more people can have this amazing experience. Thank you."

"In advance I thank Professor Vizcarra, he has been very helpful personally, since he has been very patient for us to learn to use technology," said a student named Eumelia. "After a long time I have been able to study again, I know that it is beneficial for me to make an effort, to have a better job and as a personal improvement, and the support of the counselors and teachers motivates me more, once again thank you."

By the Numbers:

  • Current Enrollment:Ā ~176 students across colleges

  • Upcoming Cohorts:Ā Clovis Community and Fresno City College launching soon, with 50+ students ready to start

  • Certificate Completions:Ā 4 in December; more expected in the coming months

With courses at Clovis Community and Fresno City College set to begin soon, and additional students completing their certificates, the AgTEC Workforce Initiative is on track to create lasting change for workers in the ag industry. The programā€™s personalized approach, dedicated faculty, and emphasis on practical skills are making a difference for individuals like Nelson and many others. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow and support the future of agriculture in the Central Valley.
