AgTEC Workforce Industry Breakfast

The AgTEC Workforce Industry Breakfast, held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Pardini’s in Fresno, brought together key industry leaders and community college representatives to celebrate the successful collaboration that has brought the AgTEC Workforce curriculum to life. Senator Anna Caballero and Don Cameron, President of the California State Board of Food and Agriculture, both delivered powerful speeches, emphasizing the critical role that industry partners have played in developing a curriculum designed to upskill farmworkers and prepare them for the future of agriculture. The event also highlighted support from Governor Gavin Newsom and the U.S. EDA Build Back Better Regional Challenge, which has been instrumental in the success of the F3 Initiative.

A panel consisting of Ag Innovation Director Cody Jacobsen and Professors Karl Montague, Anthony Farao, and Allen Vizcarra presented the newly launched Ag Systems Certificate and answered questions from industry leaders. Attendees gained insights into the program's first required course—digital literacy—and learned about the Employer Handbook/Toolkit, a resource designed to provide detailed information about the program. With over 100 Central Valley residents enrolled in the inaugural cohort, the breakfast was an opportunity to see how the curriculum is shaping the future workforce in the agriculture sector.

A special thank you to Karen Aceves, AgTEC Director and founder of ARKEN Strategies, for hosting the event, and to all the college and industry attendees who participated and contributed to the success of this initiative.
