LA Times Highlights AgTEC Workforce

We’re excited to announce that the AgTEC Workforce Initiative was recently featured in a Los Angeles Times article published on September 21, 2024, written by Rebecca Plevin. The article, titled “Central Valley Effort Aims to Train Farmworkers to Master the Technology Replacing Fieldwork,” delves into how AgTEC is transforming the agricultural landscape by equipping farmworkers with the skills necessary to thrive in a more technologically advanced industry.


Plevin’s piece highlights the groundbreaking Ag Systems Certificate program, which is being implemented at seven Central Valley community colleges to prepare farmworkers for higher-tech, higher-paying jobs. The article underscores the critical role AgTEC plays in ensuring that farmworkers are not left behind as agriculture evolves, spotlighting real stories from program participants.
