It’s National Farmers Market Week (August 3-9, 2025)! Now in its 26th year, this annual celebration highlights the vital role farmers markets play in our nation’s food system. With fun events, programs, contests, activities, and more, the week helps to boost market attendance and visibility as well as showcase the value markets bring to their communities.
In August, California's Central Valley is overflowing with fresh, locally-grown melons, peaches, nectarines, plums, berries, grapes, apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, radishes, and more - watch our video reel below to get inspired! Visit your local farmers market this week and every week to taste the bounty, support local growers, and be part of a stronger, more resilient food system.
According to the Farmers Market Coalition (FMC), the annual National Farmers Market Week celebration has grown from a little-known proclamation declared by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to a widely anticipated event and effective tool for promoting and advocating for farmers markets. In addition to promoting their market, farmers market leaders nationwide and internationally recognize the celebration as an opportunity to connect with their communities, build relationships with local, state, and federal officials, secure sponsorship and grant funding, encourage data collection and research, and more.
